Nekozouneko Group

Nekozouneko Server — 300+ concurrent players

How Nekozouneko Server, which has one of the largest player populations in Japan, uses DDoS Shield.

Industry: Minecraft server

Plan: B2B plan

The Nekozouneko Server website

We entered into a partnership with Nekozouneko Server, one of the most popular Minecraft servers in Japan by player count, and provided a DDoS Shield dedicated node together with a named support contact in a single package.

During events the server can pass 300 concurrent players, so the setup was designed to accommodate redundancy and load balancing through a load balancer.

Monthly traffic is very high and the bandwidth bill had become a significant burden. The fixed-price, unlimited, committed-bandwidth package that only the B2B plan offers has reduced that cost substantially.

To work around a compatibility issue specific to their existing on-premises setup, DDoS Shield protects Java Edition at layer 7 while Bedrock Edition is protected at layer 3 by Nekozouneko Server's own infrastructure.

Even with a large number of players connected, the server runs smoothly with no lag, and the team particularly values being able to reach a dedicated contact quickly when something urgent comes up.
